A lot of new pieces by McDiarmid, Dube, MacCLure, Hurst, Wylie, Bell, and Einerssen are in. See them by clicking on the artist’s name on the Home Page.

I also have a favor to ask of all of you who have bought art from the Golden Cactus Gallery over the years: Could you drop me a line telling me why you bought from the gallery? I think that it will be priceless in guiding me to plan for the coming season.

On December 28, 29 and 30, Marilyn Hurst and Chris MacClure will be painting at the gallery from 11 AM to 2 PM – don’t miss it!

In the meantime, I leave you with a few beautiful images for you to enjoy until we meet again…

The gallery is now open Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM. For a private viewing anytime call 143-6399 local or 1-619-272-3737 from US & Canada.

After a very hot and quiet summer, we are gearing up for an exciting new season of great art pieces and shows by our regular artists as well as continuing the special weekly "invited artist" shows. Also, we will have more artists painting live in the gallery for everyone's enjoyment and education on the various techniques our painters use to create their artwork.

So come by the gallery and don't hesitate to call me if you need to come by earlier or later than the "regular" hours. It would be a pleasure to show you around!

Art Festival Come see us! The Downtown Cabo Friday Art Festival, in conjunction with the Featured Artist Exhibit at the gallery, continues to grow. This Friday, May 20, the Plaza downtown San Lucas, by the church, will host more than 15 artists doing their art in the Plaza, as well as folkloric ballet. The museum remains open during the events – from 6 to 9 PM.

The gallery will be introducing Marlene Najera during the same period on Friday, and again on Saturday from 10 to 3 PM.
Next week, the plaza will be host to the Youth Orchestra of San Jose del Cabo, and the gallery will exhibit the photographs of Jorge Treviño.
More news: An art gallery has closed in San Jose: The Old Town Gallery’s building has been sold and the gallery is no longer. But you can still see all the work of your favorite artists right here at the Golden Cactus Gallery. Keep looking at the pages of the various artists’ by clicking on their names on the web site as we are adding new pieces daily.

Jonn & BrentEl EncantoAlso, the Southern Lights artists Jonn Einerssen and Brent Heighton, along with this gallery, had a great art show at El Encanto de la Laguna, up past San Jose on the coast. There was a huge turnout along with wonderful food (Salomon’s), drinks (fine wines and margaritas), music (Dos Huevos), and even dancing (by yours truly and many more). This is a spectacular condominium and home development: check it out! http://www.elencantoloscabos.net/

I am including photos of a past show I did at the restaurant with the most spectacular view in Los Cabos: the Sunset Mona Lisa ( http://sunsetmonalisa.com/
- the art show was a benefit for the daycare Niños del Capitan) and photos of Friday night events at the gallery – like the incomparable singer Luna Itzel.

The Golden Cactus Gallery is proud to sponsor the local artistic talent byHumberto Arredondo
giving them a venue in which to express themselves every Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. The exact time changes depending on the actual event, so please call 143-6399.
Every weekend, the gallery showcases a different artist who wishes to expose his or her art, be it paintings, sculptures, poetry, music, singing, photography, performances, writings, dancing, etc.
The location is provided for free and the gallery does not collect any percentage from any sales or contracts acquired during the event.
These exhibits are also in conjunction with the new upcoming Cabo Friday Festivals which will start April 22, from 6 to 9PM, and every Friday thereafter The festival is the result of the efforts of business owners of downtown Cabo San Lucas to offer the tourists and the locals something fun and cultural to do on Friday nights.
The aim is also to generate a fresh image for the center of San Lucas, a destination with alternatives to the well-known bar scenes and Boulevard Marina. Artists will be exposing in the little (Amelia Wilkes) plaza by the church; there will be music, entertainment, fire twirling, drum playing, clowns, acrobats, and special offers by nearby businesses.
Upcoming Shows:

Friday April 8: Humberto Arredondo - "Drawings" - hyperealism in pastel, oil & graphite
Friday April 15: Dick McFaul & Matt Hewittson - impresionism in oil
Friday April 22: Marco Antonio Bejarano - "Poetry without words" - expresionism & surrealism
Friday April 29: Miguel Ramirez - "Naturaleza Muerta" - hyperrealism still life

A portion of all sales of the artwork from the gallery will be given to the non-profit organization that runs a day care center for the children of low-income families.

More than 200 people show up for the re-openingThere is a great video about the gallery and it's grand re-opening produced by the local newspaper Gringo Gazette on their web site at http://gringogazette.tv/featured/cactus_gallery_opening.html (If your Internet is a little slow, just give the video a couple minutes to load.)

More than 200 people came to see the new location, gaze at the fabulous art, meet with the artists, and enjoy the music by Jonathan, the great food provided by Dennis' Catering, as well as the plentiful wine graciously offered by LA Cetto winery of northern Baja California.
Soon, I will be posting photos on this web site of new and exciting artwork by our regular artists as well as introducing three new artists, Sandra Chapman, Alan Wylie and Janice Robertson.
The gallery is also hosting "Meet the Artist" events on Fridays and Saturdays starting March 11th. These artists are not part of the gallery's regularly featured artists; they are local and emerging new talents and the gallery is offering a free venue as a platform to showcase their work. Come and support them - painters, singers, musicians, dancers, poets, writers, performers!
And please check http://www.facebook.com/pages/Golden-Cactus-Gallery/164259850286239 a facebook link to the gallery - still in construction.

The move is complete and the "new" gallery is stunning! Great layout, beautiful walls, positive energy, all combine to a creative and exciting new space. Although the work seemed daunting at times, every minute was worth it. There are many new plans being contemplated for the year to come, so stay in touch through my web site or give me a call through my San Diego area code: 619-272-3737. The gallery is now open from 10 AM to 9 PM and I am only one block from the former location.

I have received exciting new art pieces by McDiarmid, MacClure, Dube, Tames, Charuk, Hurst and a new artist named Alan Wylie. Here are some photographs of your new gallery. Come see it!

This is great news! We are moving on the ground floor of a beautiful building one block away.

It is on the northwest corner of Hidalgo street (think Mama's Royal Cafe, Felix, La Dolce, Pancho, Crazy Lobster and Magic of the Moon) and Zapata street (El Gallo mini super). Zapata is also known as Camino de los Conejos (Rabbits in Spanish).

The floor plan is perfect with a skylight illuminating a rock wall, a 2-car garage - YES! Parking! - air conditioning and beautiful tile floors throughout. Some of you may remember it as the Coldwell Banker Real Estate office.

The transition will take place all through November with the original location open for business until about the 15th, when the new location will take over. Well, that is how I see it at this point... So help me with this by spreading the news!

I will post photos on this web site as we progress.

I would love to say more, but now I have to work on the map. So here it is:

Map of both locations

I am also expecting great and exciting new work by Chris MacClure, Brent Heighton, Jonn Einerssen, Serge Dubé, Fernando Tamés, and more!

Take a look at the Golden Cactus Gallery's home page and the pictures here; the gallery has a new look. Lots of light now stream through to the art pieces and each one has a space of its own. The gallery is very energized.

Click on the Artist's name to the left of the home page to see new art work by Dube, Heighton, Einerssen, Tames, and Cimino, a clay artist from Todos Santos.
