NEWSLETTER/NOV.07
After 5 months traveling, resting and painting, we’re back and ready for season #11. Can’t believe we have over 10 years under our belt and yet in retrospect it’s as if we’ve always been on our little corner. So much gets packed into a year here; it’s kind of like dog years---7 to 1.
Larry Sept our intrepid glass artist, or as we affectionately call him, LORENZO 7---did an incredible job of keeping the home fires burning. The gallery looked great when we returned and best of all, our clients both new and old, loved his friendly, easy-going nature. We feel privileged to have him as part of our team and without him; we wouldn’t feel comfortable to have taken so much time away from our studio/gallery here. We had a noise some last season with the construction of our addition and what with the incessant hammering, dust and general confusion---we weren’t exactly up to form. Our apologies if we were a tad cranky with any of you and promise we’ll be much better this year.
The new addition is great and we know you’ll love the expansive feeling. Of course the gallery is still jam packed with art but there is more room to stand back and enjoy it. We still have some tweaking to do but overall, we’re pleased. Lorenzo is going to help out with the fine tuning as he’s exceptionally talented on all fronts. During the summer he’s t painting with brush and canvas again and doing some interesting work.
During our sojourn up north we found a new artist we know our clients will love. Her name is JILL CHARUK, an impressionist painter and a great fit for our gallery and the Old Town Gallery in San José. She has traveled to Mexico and will be down here during the season at some point to gather material and paint for us. Jill shows in Jonn Einerssens’ gallery in Kelowna and that makes her part of our family already.
Our big shipment has arrived with lots of new works by all our artists. We’ll try to get everything up on line asap. Our web guy, Mateus is back from his yearly trip to Poland and will update our web site as soon as possible. If you’re anxious to see any new works by one of our artists, just email or phone and we’ll jpeg some to you. By the way our vonage line into the gallery is 604-628-2233 (just like phoning anywhere in the states).
All of the artists plan on coming to Cabo during the season---some have dates already and others are in the planning stages. Let us know if you want to meet any of them when they are here.
Ortega is just back from 6 months in Spain where he really honed his acrylic painting. He’s still doing watercolors but loves the freedom of acrylic. Fernando Tamés is still working on his studio in the desert but we see him weekly when he drops off new paintings.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year and thanks for all the support over the years, we couldn’t be here without it. Marilyn & Chris
